DLA Piper's LGBT+ network group, Iris, relaunched last week with an event at the firm's London office including a speech from former Welsh rugby player Gareth Thomas.
Gareth discussed his personal life and the difficulties he experienced when trying to come to terms with his sexuality in front of an audience of more than 100 DLA Piper colleagues and clients at the event, which was hosted by DLA Piper's Global Co-Chair Juan Picon, and timed to coincide with LGBT history month.
Iris is DLA Piper's global networking group for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender employees and allies and is open to everyone. The group aims to promote an inclusive working environment by offering networking opportunities, raising awareness across the firm and partnering with clients on LGBT+ initiatives.
In Greek mythology, Iris is the personification of the rainbow and is the messenger of the gods, linking them to the mortals.
